General Product Information

Nomenclature
The systematic name and reference number, according to the Recommendations of the Nomenclature Committee of the International Union of Biochemistry (1984), is given under the commonly known name of each product.

Specifications
In our product specifications, the term ‘approximately’ or ± implies a variation of not more than 10% from the stated activity. ‘Salt-free’ indicates a salt content (normally ammonium sulphate) of less than 1%.

Quality Control
Each batch of product is assayed to ensure conformance with our published specifications and a Certificate of Analysis is included with each batch of product supplied. All products held in stock are re-assayed at defined intervals to ensure conformity to our specifications and as part of our long-term stability programme.

Assay Procedures
The unit of activity measurement is defined for each product and activity is determined strictly in accordance with our specified conditions of assay. Copies of our assay procedures are available on this web site or will be supplied by fax or mail on request.

Storage and Handling

• Liquid preparations: Store refrigerated at between +2^°C and +8^°C in the containers in which the product is supplied.

• Freeze-dried preparations: Store at -10^°C or lower. Before opening a container, allow temperature of the container to reach room temperature and dry off any water condensation that may have formed on the container. After use, desiccate in a vacuum desiccator over silica gel for a period of 3 to 4 hours before re-sealing the container and returning it to the storage temperature.

Safety
A Material Safety Data Sheet is supplied with each product. This provides guidelines for the safe handling of the product. Trained personnel using the normal laboratory safety procedures should handle products.
